Diabetes data and tools

National Diabetes Audit

Presents a large amount of data at a local level through several different dashboards. These include:

  • annual and quarterly granular data on care process completion and treatment target achievement
  • measures of foot care services against guidelines and peers and monitors outcomes of foot disease in people with diabetes
  • data on the prevalence and demographics of patients with non-diabetic hyperglycaemia and referrals to the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme
  • provides trends in rates of cardiovascular, kidney and diabetes-specific complications and mortality in people with diabetes
  • presents data on glucose technologies and insulin regimens for people with type 1 diabetes, including a focus on young people with type 1 diabetes
  • metrics on service provision which is assessed against recommendations in the Diabetes Getting It Right First Time report
  • provider data on the demographic breakdown and quality of antenatal care and outcomes for women with pregestational diabetes

 

National Paediatric Diabetes Audit

The National Paediatric Diabetes Audit reports data on children and young people receiving care from paediatric diabetes teams in England and Wales, through reports and data releases. It includes national and local data on:

  • characteristics of those included in the audit
  • what health checks and support they receive and when
  • use of diabetes-related technologies
  • evidence of cardiovascular risk factors
  • other related comorbidities
  • parent and patient contact with their diabetes team
  • patient’s ability to manage condition
  • hospital admissions for diabetic ketoacidosis
  • hospital admissions for hypoglycaemia
  • hospital admissions without complications

 

CVDPREVENT Audit

NCVIN, NHS Benchmarking Network and NHS England collaboratively produce data for the CVDPREVENT audit. The Data & Improvement Tool allows users to understand their data in more detail. Data is available on patients that have evidence of impaired glucose control that are not recorded as having diabetes.
