February 2023

The England level data for the bowel cancer screening coverage indicator was refreshed from the 2013 to 2014 financial year to the 2020 to 2021 financial year. This is due to a methodology error that previously inadvertently excluded a small number of cases for only England level data.

The 95% and 99.8% confidence interval data has been updated for five indicators: new cancer cases (crude incidence rate), in-patient or day-case colonoscopy procedures, in-patient or day-case sigmoidoscopy procedures, in-patient or day-case upper GI endoscopy procedures, and number of emergency admissions with cancer. This update corrects the confidence interval methodology used for these indicators, aligning the methodology used with the approach stated in the supporting information.

For the one-year and five-year two-week wait referrals (indirectly age-sex standardised referral ratio) indicators, some previously missing data for ICBs, ICB sub-locations and CCGs has been added.

December 2022

All indicators have been updated with data for the 2021 to 2022 financial year, with the exception of the crude cancer incidence rate which has been updated with data for the 2020 to 2021 financial year.

The data for all screening indicators has been refreshed for all years, including data back to the 2009 to 2010 financial year for the breast and cervical screening indicators and back to the 2013 to 2014 financial year for the bowel screening indicators. This is due to a methodology change, to ensure the data periods run up to the end of March in the given financial year.

December 2021

All indicators have been updated with the 2020 to 2021 financial year of data, with the exception of the crude cancer incidence rate which has been updated with the 2019 to 2020 financial year of data.

Bowel screening indicators for the age band 60-69 were retired after 2018/19 and have been removed from the tool. The cervical screening indicators for the age band 25-64 were retired after 2019/20 and have been removed from the tool.

From 2020/21, the bowel screening indicators have been extracted using a different methodology to previous data. Full details can be found in the caveats section of the descriptive metadata for each affected indicator.
